This month’s creative entrepreneur spotlight features Marla Minton, a fantastic up and coming coach who focuses on helping clients achieve healthier lifestyles… She shows us what it’s like to be an entrepreneur from the point of view of working different jobs to feed her dream of becoming a full-time coach. We’ve all been there. I know, I have. And in some ways, I still am!
“Hard work, a positive perspective and an intentional mindset gets you far!”
I graduated from Anderson University in 2010 with a degree in Communications and a specialisation in Public Relations. Since graduating, I’ve work for a “big box” corporation, a well established “mom and pop” shop, and a few start-up companies. My take-away from all these experiences is this… hard work, a positive perspective and an intentional mindset gets you far!
What motivates me to coach others is my own experiences, my own self-doubt and my passion for helping people. My goal aside from helping my clients transition to a healthier lifestyle is to help them love who they are, no matter their current physique.
Self-love is SO important and I’ve seen the tragedy that occurs when it doesn’t exist.
“I NEEDED creativity so I found a way to make it a part of my life.”
Intentional Image, LLC was born because my place of employment (at the time) was less than desirable. With little to no room for creativity, employees who gossiped about me, and a negative atmosphere, I HAD to do something to take my mind off my mundane 9-5. They say, “necessity is the mother of invention.” Well, I NEEDED creativity so I found a way to make it a part of my life. I poured all of my fitness and nutrition knowledge into my first 6-Week Fitness Challenge , where I had 15 people sign-up. Since then it has evolved into SO much more than fitness and nutrition. Through starting this business I’ve realised how important self-love is and how valuable a knowledge of nutrition can be. I know it will continue to develop into SO much more. I’m very excited for what’s to come!
I love being able to work from anywhere. Right now, 100% of my clients are remote and I coach them online, via email, text, phones calls, etc. As I type this I’m in the Cayman Islands watching the waves crash on the shore. There’s something SO cool about having this freedom. That’s not to say that I don’t do other things. It isn’t my sole money maker. I work part time for a real estate company (from home) and nanny for a local family. I’m no stranger to hard work. I have goals to pay off my student loans 17 years early. The more money I can make, the faster I can become debt free.
That being said; right now, I work a lot. We’re talking 10+ hour days, 6 to 7 days a week, working multiple jobs a day with little to no break between gigs. I know this is a temporary thing, but my goals of financial freedom and my clients are what keeps me going!
A big thank you to Marla Minton for being the first entrepreneur/business owner to be featured on Wonderfully Mei Designs. Keep an eye out for this regular feature and feel free to contact me if you’d like to be featured in upcoming posts.
What is the Creative Entrepreneur Spotlight? It is where I give space to a fellow entrepreneur, to talk about who they are and what they do.
